Register TODAY!!  Registration closes midnight TUESDAY night!!  You still have time to register!

Explore Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and how you can apply it to your home gardening practices. IPM trainer Kevin Cavanaugh will lead a hands-on tour of St. Paul resident Debbie Meister’s yard. Meister participated in a IPM workshop, had on-site assistance and journaled about her IPM practices during the 2008 growing season. Her yard became a case study for the MN Department of Agriculture and University of MN Extension.

IPM is a balanced approach to pest management, which incorporates the many aspects of plant health care protection in ways that mitigate harmful environmental impacts and protect human health. IPM works on a continuum with level 1 using few if any preventive practices to level 4 being high or biointensive IPM, which relies primarily on preventive practices that limit pest pressure, diversify and build populations of beneficial organism. Pesticides are used only as a last resort and broad-spectrum products are avoided at all times.

Learn about opportunities to help gardeners who have acres of plants, or a 3'x 8' urban balcony garden, or anything in between!  Stay after the tour for networking around a backyard fire, weather permitting-bring your own beverage for the bonfire festivities.

A local/organic meal will be provided!

Location: 1312 Portland Ave., St. Paul, MN  (one block north of Summit Ave. between Hamline and Syndicate)

Cost: $10 for students, $12 for members, $18 for non-members.
